On Thursday, the government of Gujarat reassigned 70 members of the Indian Police Service, including Vadodara commissioner Shamsher Singh and Ahmedabad’s Crime Branch head, Prem Vir Singh.

Anupam Singh Gehlot, an IPS officer from the 1997 batch who was most recently the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Intelligence in Gandhinagar, has been promoted to the position of commissioner in Vadodara.

According to a notice released by the state’s Home Department, Shamsher Singh, an IPS officer who joined the force in 1991, has been transferred to the city of Gandhinagar to take on the role of Director General of Police (Law and Order).

The position of commissioner in Ahmedabad has been given to GS Malik, an Additional DGP who is currently on deputation from the Central government. Since Sanjay Srivastava retired in May, the position has been open.

Prem Vir Singh, once the Ahmedabad CP and now the Inspector General of the Ahmedabad Range, was formerly the joint commissioner of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch.

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch will get a new chief of police in the form of Additional CP (Crime) Neeraj Kumar Badgujar, who was previously the Additional CP of Sector-1.

General of the Gandhinagar Range Abhay Chudasama has been promoted to the position of Principal of the State Police Academy in Karai, Gandhinagar.

V Chandrasekar, previously the IG of the Ahmedabad Range, will soon assume the role of IG of the Surat Range.
