Mr. Lalringthara, who was born in 1945 in the village of Khuangleng near the border with Myanmar, was unable to finish his education after Class 2 due to the passing of his father. Being the only child, he was compelled to assist his mother in the jhum fields at a young age, according to the news portal.

He had been relocating, and in 1995 he eventually made New Hruaikawn village his permanent home. He has been making a living by serving as a guard at the nearby Presbyterian church. He lost years of his academic career due to extreme poverty.

He returned to school to sharpen his English language abilities. His main objectives were to be able to read and understand television news stories and submit applications in English.

The Northeast Today reports that Mr. Lalrinthara is literate and has a high level of proficiency in both reading and writing the Mizo language. He is currently employed by New Hruaikawn as the church chowkidar.

“I don’t have any trouble reading or writing in Mizo. But my zeal to master the English language has fuelled my drive for education. Nowadays, every work of literature contains some English phrases, which frequently confuses me. As a result, I made the decision to return to school in order to increase my knowledge, particularly of the English language, Mr. Lalrinthara said to the news portal.
