In a bizarre incident, a goods train stationed at Kathua railway station in Jammu and Kashmir embarked on an unexpected journey without a driver, covering a staggering distance of more than 70 kilometers before coming to a halt in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district on Sunday.
Driverless journey of goods train raises concern
The goods train, consisting of over 50 coaches, started its driverless expedition at a speed ranging from 70 to 80 kilometers per hour. This surprising incident unfolded without any casualties or damage to property, raising eyebrows about how the train could travel such a distance unmanned.
Mystery on the Tracks: Inquiry Initiated
Railway officials revealed that the train, originally at a standstill at Kathua Station, mysteriously began its movement down a slope towards Pathankot without the presence of a driver. The train was eventually brought to a stop near Ucchi Bassi village in Mukerian City, Hoshiarpur. An inquiry into the peculiar occurrence has been launched, with Divisional Traffic Manager Jammu, Prateek Srivastava, leading the investigation. The motive behind the train’s unmanned journey is yet to be determined.
