Kiran Rao’s directorial venture, ‘Laapataa Ladies,’ has secured the prestigious position of the opening film for the upcoming second edition of the IFFM Summer Festival.

The film is set to have its Australian premiere on February 29th at the festival, leading up to its official release on March 1, 2024, as mentioned in an official statement.

The film, set in 2001 in rural India, revolves around two young brides who become separated during a train journey. The narrative takes an intriguing turn when Kishan, a police officer, takes it upon himself to investigate the missing case. ‘Laapataa Ladies’ explores the complexities of human relationships and the unexpected challenges of life.
Produced under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the screenplay crafted by Biplab Goswami, the film promises a captivating cinematic experience.
