The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially declared its first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, marking a significant step in the election process.
Among the notable names included in this list is Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to contest from the Varanasi constituency. The announcement of candidates follows a recent meeting of the BJP’s central election committee, where decisions regarding key nominations were made.
During the central election committee meeting, discussions primarily revolved around 50 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state. Out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is set to announce candidates for 51 constituencies. Additionally, nominations for 24 out of the 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh have also been finalized.
The list of candidates features several high-profile names, including 34 central ministers, indicating the BJP’s emphasis on retaining experienced leaders and maintaining continuity in governance. The inclusion of such prominent figures underscores the party’s commitment to fielding seasoned campaigners who can effectively represent their constituencies.
