Thursday evening, cyclone Biparjoy made landfall in the Kutch-Saurashtra region of Gujarat,
causing widespread destruction. More than 5,100 utility poles were destroyed,
leaving 4,600 communities without electricity. According to a statement,
electricity has been restored to 3,580 villages, while nearly 1,000 villages
remain without power.

Nearly 600 trees were
devastated by the cyclone, resulting in the closure of three state highways and
traffic disruption. Multiple structures sustained damage. Thanks to the massive
evacuation efforts, the cyclone caused 23 injuries but no fatalities. The
greatest accomplishment of the state to date is that no human fatalities have
been reported as a result of cyclone Biparjoy. The Gujarat Relief Commissioner,
Alok Kumar Pandey, stated on Friday that our collective efforts made this
possible.
