The portal was inaugurated by external affairs minister S Jaishankar and education minister Dharmendra Pradhan with the intention of developing India as a global hub for education by inviting students from diverse backgrounds.
Jaishankar told the audience that the site will help the country build a strong international presence for the brand India in the education field.
I like how the portal is all in one place, which makes it easy for international students to apply for everything from registration to visa acceptance. He said that this makes it easy for them to choose the courses they want and get offers from schools that are a good fit.
He also said that domestic students will gain from the presence of international students because they will learn more about a globalised world and be better prepared for a global workplace.
It will help students feel more connected to a world that is becoming more global and better prepare them for working in a global job. The minister of foreign affairs said that having students from other countries study with you helps you learn more about their cultures, habits, beliefs, and even how they think.
When these students return to their home countries, they really become goodwill ambassadors for India, and sometimes even more so,” he said.
The minister of education, Pradhan, said that the portal is based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and shows that the government wants to make India a “preferred destination for education” and “blur academic boundaries to build a prosperous future.”
The goal of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is to make education work across geopolitical borders. Pradhan said that Study In India Portal will be a key step in making India a top choice for college-bound kids from all over the world.
To promote India as a prime education hub for international students and to encourage them to pursue higher education in the country and to explore the valuable educational opportunities enabled by top Indian universities, the education ministry in 2018 launched a flagship project known as the Study in India or SII programme.
The education minister says that the portal is a website that will give a lot of information about Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). In a release, the ministry said, “The website will show academic programmes, including but not limited to undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral level programmes, as well as courses in the Indian Knowledge System, such as Yoga, Ayurveda, classical arts, etc.”
It will inform people about the academic facilities, help with study, and other related information.
