Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke virtually at the G20 Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting in Kolkata, stating that India has a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

Prime Minister Modi stated that India has a stringent policy of zero tolerance for corruption and is leveraging technology and e-governance to build an open and accountable ecosystem.

PM Modi also talked about Tagore’s works and warned against greed, saying that it keeps us from seeing the truth. He also talked about the old Indian Upanishads, which try to reach the goal of “Ma Gridha,” which means “let there be no greed.”

PM Modi also said that the poor and the marginalised are the ones who suffer the most from crime.

It changes how resources are used, how markets work, how services are delivered, and in the end, it hurts people’s quality of life, he said.

Modi said that, according to Kautilya in the Arthashastra, it is the government’s job to improve the State’s resources so that the people can be as happy as possible. To reach this goal, he said, corruption must be fought, and this is the government’s sacred job to its people.

He also said that holes and leaks in government projects and support programmes are being fixed. He also said that hundreds of millions of people in India received direct benefit transfers to their bank accounts totaling more than $360 billion, which has helped them save more than $33 billion.

He also said that our government e-Marketplace, also known as the GeM site, has made government buying more transparent.

PM Modi said that since the Economic Offenders Act was passed in 2018, the government is actively going after economic offenders. He also said that assets worth more than $1.8 billion have been recovered from economic offenders and escapees.

He also talked concerning the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which has helped recover more than USD 12 billion in assets from criminals since 2014.
