According to news agency PTI, a fire broke out in a tourist train parked on Bodi Lane at Madurai railway station in the early hours of Saturday, killing ten people and injuring more than 20.
Injured Transferred to Government Hospital
According to the news, the bodies have been transferred to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, and a rescue operation is ongoing. Authorities believe the fire started when a passenger lit a gas burner to make coffee.
Pilgrims were onboard
A coach stationed here at Madurai railway station caught fire around 5:30 a.m. today. There were pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh on board. When they turned on the gas cooker to make coffee, the gas cylinder exploded. According to Madurai District Collector MS Sangeetha, we have retrieved nine bodies so far, according to PTI.
What officials have to say about the incident
According to B.Guganesan, Chief Public Relations Officer, Southern Railway, the occupants aboard the private party coach illegally smuggled a petrol cylinder, which caused the fire.
The Punalur-Madurai Express connected the coach at Nagercoil Junction on Friday and detached it after arriving in Madurai. This is a private party coach that was connected to train number 16730,Punalur-Madurai Exp at Nagercoil Junction yesterday (Aug 25).
People all around India expressed their sorrow over this occurrence. Droupadi Murmu, the President, also expressed her sympathy for the injured.

Illegally smuggled in a petrol cylinder
The party carriage was separated and parked at the Madurai Stabling Line. The passengers on the private party bus illegally sneaked a gas cylinder, which caused the fire.
When the fire was found, many people exited the carriage. Some passengers had evacuated on the platform itself.
A cylinder and a bag of potatoes were discovered scattered around the accident site, indicating that food had been attempted to be cooked.
