Justice Gangopadhyay of the Calcutta High Court, has resigned from his position to join politics and is likely to join Bhartiya Janta Party shortly.
Justice Gangopadhyay resigned from his prestigious position on 5th March by submitting his resignation letter to the president of India.
Justice Gangopadhyay to join BJP
Justice Gangopadhyay confirmed that he will be joining BJP. He confirmed this after handing over his resignation as he arrived to his chamber in the Calcutta High Court. Along with sending the letter to the President, he had also sent it to the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud and the Chief Justice of the Calcutta HC TS Sivagnanam.
Why to join BJP
Targeting corruption in TMC, he said that he intends to join BJP as it’s a national party fighting against TMC in W. Bengal. He will be joining on March 7. Address the press conference, he further said that it is for BJP to decide whether they want him to contest election or not. He is ready to accept the decision by the party leadership.
He has been in talks with BJP over the past few days which contacted him. He said that joining BJP is the right way to fight TMC.
TMC synonym with corruption
Justice Gangopadhyay has been in news for making judgements which tends to be against the ruling TMC. He has been making strong judgements which has from time to time angered the ruling party. During the press conference he also said that he TMC leaders have been using derogatory remarks against him after his judgements which go against the party / Bengal government . TMC leaders have verbally abused him which has in turn helped him to decide joining politics. He went onto say that TMC is synonym to corruption.
He further said that TMC is going to get vanished from the Bengal and is going to face the same fate as CPI(M) led Left Front.
