In a recent development, the custodians of Ajmer Dargah, known as ‘khadims,’ have urged law enforcement to take swift action against Simran Gupta, the chief of Hindu Shakti Dal. Gupta is alleged to have labelled Sufi saint Moinuddin Chisti as a rapist and a terrorist, along with claiming that the dargah’s ‘Jannati Darwaja’ was constructed after the demolition of a pre-existing Shiva Temple.
Sarwar Chishty, the president of the khadims, has written a letter to Ajmer’s Superintendent of Police, urging the immediate arrest of Gupta over his objectionable comments.
Accusations of Hate Speech
Chishty expressed concern over the hate speech and objectionable remarks made by the fringe organization Hindu Shakti Dal against Khawaja Gharib Nawaz, the revered saint associated with Ajmer Dargah. He described the incident as unfortunate and disgraceful, emphasizing that it was part of a well-planned criminal conspiracy.

Despite providing evidence, Chishty claimed that the authorities have not taken any action against the accused. He highlighted the rise in misinformation, abusive comments, and defamatory remarks against Khawaja Gharib Nawaz and the Dargah Ajmer Sharif community.
Threat of Protest
Chishty warned of launching a protest if strict action is not taken against Simran Gupta within a week. He emphasized the need for curbing hate speech and maintaining social harmony and peace.
Police Response
Circle officer Dargah Gauri Shankar confirmed that two FIRs have been registered in connection with Simran Gupta’s statements made nearly a week ago. The matter is currently under investigation.
Gupta’s Recent Actions
Simran Gupta had recently submitted a memorandum to the district administration, requesting a survey of the dargah by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
This incident follows a court decision in Varanasi, allowing a Hindu priest’s family to hold prayers in the Gyanvapi Mosque’s cellar. The decision came after an ASI survey claimed the existence of a pre-existing Hindu temple at the mosque site.
