Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday at the inaugural event of the All India Education Convention at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, which marked the third anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, that despite India having a number of flourishing languages, they were presented as backwards. What else could possibly be worse than this?

PM Modi stated that individuals were never accepted for their talent if they were unable to speak English, and those from rural areas suffered the most. Even I speak Indian at the United Nations. It would take time for the audience to applaud. Allow them,” he stated.

In addition to other policy revisions, the NEP concentrates on providing education in local languages, with the option to extend it through the higher education level.

The Prime Minister stated, in a dig at the Opposition, that the inclusion of regional languages in the NEP will provide a specific benefit to the nation. PM Modi delivered his address at Pragati Maidan’s Bharat Mandapam, which will also host the forthcoming G20 summit in September.

The convention, also known as the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, will be held on July 29 and 30 over the course of two days. It will give academics, sector experts, policymakers, industry representatives, teachers, and students from schools, higher education institutions, and skilling institutions, among others, a chance to share their ideas, success stories, and best practises for putting the NEP 2020 into action and come up with ways to move it forward.
