Between the routes of Vapi and Palghar stations, a Railway Protection Force constable shot dead an assistant sub-inspector and three other passengers early Monday.

It has been reported by the railway officials, that around 5:23 a.m., early Monday this incident took place at Train No 12956, Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express. The accused was identified as an escorting staff constable Chetan Kumar. He allegedly shot at his colleague escort, ASI Tika Ram and other three travelling passengers.

A souce said that Kumar got into an argument with his colleague escort, Tika Ram, because of which he fired shot at him in extreme anger. They were reportedly deployed in the train for security in which they started arguing and a gruesome incident took place.

The jawan, Chetan Kumar tried to flee the scene after pulling the alarm chain near Dahisar but he was soon caught by RPF Bhayandar along with his weapon, an official said. The railway officials said that Kumar, held the the passengers at gunpoint before shooting Tika Ram.

According to an RPF officer ,the family of the deceased are being contacted and ex gratia amount will be given to them.
“Our probe is on and we are questioning the accused and other passengers to ascertain the exact reason and sequence of events,” the officials added.
