The electoral battle, setting the tone for the 2024 polls, witnessed a fierce contest between the BJP and the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, Telangana witnessed a direct showdown between the Congress and K Chandrashekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), anticipating a hat-trick.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, expressing jubilation as the counting progressed, asserted, “People have blessed BJP in three states, endorsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and rejecting the Congress’ false promises.”
In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP appeared poised for another term with leads in 161 seats, leaving the Congress trailing at 66 in the 230-member assembly. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in his moment of triumph, credited the success to various welfare schemes and initiatives for farmers, the poor, and the youth.

Senior BJP leader Raman Singh declared that the people had rejected Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, expressing faith in Modi’s governance over Baghel’s promises.
While the trends in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were evident, some Congress workers held out hope for retaining power in Chhattisgarh, despite the increasing challenges. In Telangana, the Congress displayed a potential comeback, leading in 64 seats against the BRS’s 40 in the 119-member house.
Counting began amidst tight security in the four states, with Mizoram’s results scheduled for Monday. A three-tier security setup was implemented, allowing only individuals with valid passes to access counting centers.
