The photos were taken by a camera that will help the lander navigate when it makes its historic touchdown tomorrow.

Along with the most recent Moon photos, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) also provided a mission update.

“Chandrayaan-3 Mission: The mission is proceeding as planned. System inspections happen on a regular basis. Everything is still going smoothly. It stated that “the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) is buzzing with energy and excitement.

The photographs were taken on Saturday from a height of around 70 km by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC). By comparing the images with a reference map of the moon on board, the camera aids the lander module in determining its location, according to ISRO.

Tomorrow at 5:20 p.m., a live broadcast of the landing operations will start.

Yesterday, the ISRO released photos of the Moon’s far side that featured several of its well-known craters. A camera used by the Vikram lander to determine a secure landing spot captured those pictures.

At 6:04 PM on Wednesday, the lander is anticipated to make contact with the Moon’s south polar area. If successful, India will become just the fourth nation to accomplish this feat, joining the United States, Russia, and China.
