From Humble Beginnings to Chief Minister

Addressing the State Assembly, Saini expressed gratitude for the opportunity bestowed upon him by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating, “I come from a humble family background, no one is in politics in my family. I am just a party worker of the BJP and today I have been given such a big opportunity.”

He attributed his political journey and learnings to former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, stating, “I have learnt everything from scratch from former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. I have learnt even the minutest things from him and how to maintain them.”

Formal Staking of Claim and Swearing-In Ceremony

Nayab Singh Saini formally staked claim to form the government in the state by meeting Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday. Following this, he took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana at a ceremony held in Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh.

Expansion of Cabinet

The Haryana cabinet witnessed the induction of four BJP leaders, namely Kanwar Pal Gujjar, Jai Parkash Dalal, Moolchand Sharma, and Banwari Lal, along with independent MLA Ranjit Singh, who were administered oath by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. Former CM Manohar Lal Khattar was also present during the ceremony.

Support and Challenges

Asserting the support of 48 MLAs for the BJP-led government, Nayab Singh Saini underscored the importance of conducting the floor test promptly.

The alliance between the BJP and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) collapsed, leading to the resignation of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Khattar suggested that disagreements over Lok Sabha polls seat allocation might have contributed to the alliance’s dissolution.
