In Haryana’s Nuh, a clash has reportedly broke out due to communal reasons on Monday, during the procession by Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Two guards and one other were killed and the clash left several severely injured.

After prohibitary orders were imposed, the internet services were suspended when the violence flared. “3,000-4,000 people were being held hostage in a temple,” said by the state Home Minister after sorting out the forces from the Centre. They were said to be evacuated by late evening.

An unidentified person was declared dead in the hospital and the two home guards were recognised as Neeraj and Gursevak by the Gurgaon police. They were said to be attached to the Kherki Daula police station in Gurgaon.

The clash that broke out in the morning was uncontrollable by evening. It spread to Sohna Chowk near Gurgaon. Allegedly, vehicles were set on fire and some shops were vandalised. Chief Minister M L Khattar requested the public to maintain peace. “The kind of situation that has emerged in Nuh makes it even more important for all the people of the state to be more responsible and ensure brotherhood,” he said. “All the issues can be resolved by way of talks. Nobody should indulge in sending/ circulating any wrong information/ messages. Nobody is above the Constitution of India.”

Permission was given to the yatra starting at Nalhar temple in Nuh. The procession had to stop after 5 km by a group of young men. Stone pelting was started at the paticipants heading to the temple. “One or two cars” were set on fire. It is said that around 1,000 police personnel were guarding at three sites along the routes. Despite heavy police deployment, the violence continued to spread.

3,000-4,000 people that were held hostage at the temple are a part a VHP’s procession. The Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said that they are trying their best to rescue these people. 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are appointed to maintain law and order in the areas till August 8.

On Tuesday, Private and government education instituitions is said to be closed in Gurgaon and Palwal to avoid any unwanted incident, according to the authorities.
