Development of Railway Infra: In a significant address during the inauguration of multiple railway projects, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the remarkable progress achieved in the last ten years and outlined ambitious plans for the future.

Railway Infra, a key force to development
Addressing the critical role of Railway Infra in national development, PM Modi stated that the transformation of the railway system is a guarantee for a developed India. He highlighted achievements such as the expansion of the Vande Bharat train network, electrification initiatives, and the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in railway stations.
A shift towards ‘Made in India’ in railways
PM Modi shed light on the government’s focus on creating an ecosystem for ‘Made in India’ in railways. He mentioned the successful export of locomotives and coaches to countries like Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Senegal, Myanmar, and Sudan. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the demand for Made in India semi high-speed trains would lead to the emergence of more manufacturing units.

Modernization initiatives and job creation
Highlighting various modernization initiatives, including the abolition of unmanned crossings and the introduction of automatic signalling systems, PM Modi underlined the impact on job creation. The rejuvenation of railways and new investments, he remarked, guarantees new employment opportunities.
Gati shakti and cargo terminal policy
PM Modi discussed the positive outcomes of the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal Policy, emphasizing increased construction of cargo terminals and simplified land leasing policies. He also mentioned the establishment of Gati Shakti University.
Massive investment in Railway projects
The Prime Minister revealed that projects worth over Rs 11 lakh crore have been inaugurated and initiated in just 2.5 months of 2024. He dedicated railway projects worth over Rs 85,000 crore to the nation, marking a significant step towards the vision of a developed India.
Inauguration of developmental projects in Gujarat
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi dedicated various developmental projects worth over Rs 1,06,000 crores at the Dedicated Freight Corridor’s Operation Control Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The projects span multiple sectors, including railway infrastructure, connectivity, and petrochemicals. Additionally, he flagged off 10 new Vande Bharat trains, symbolizing a new era in India’s railway journey.
