Dubai has taken a significant step to strengthen ties with India through the introduction of a five-year multiple-entry visa, aimed at fostering tourism and business collaborations between the two nations. Here are five key aspects of this latest development:
A surge in Indian visitors:
According to data from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), 2023 witnessed a remarkable surge in Indian tourists, with 2.46 million overnight visitors recorded, marking a 25% increase from pre-pandemic levels.
India: Top Source Market:
India solidified its position as Dubai’s leading source market for tourism, with DET data highlighting a substantial year-on-year growth of 34%. This surge reaffirms India’s status as the primary contributor to Dubai’s international visitor influx.
Enhanced Visa Facilities:
The newly introduced five-year multiple-entry visa aims to facilitate smoother travel between India and Dubai, promote sustained economic collaborations, and encourage both tourism and business engagements. This visa, processed within 2–5 working days, allows for a stay of up to 90 days, extendable once for a similar period, not exceeding 180 days in a year.
Operational Flexibility:
The DET emphasized that the visa initiative provides operational flexibility, catering to diverse travel purposes including business engagements and leisure travel. This move is expected to further boost tourism from India, contributing to Dubai’s record-breaking performance in 2023.
Strategic Importance of India:
Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at DET, underscored the pivotal role of India in Dubai’s growth trajectory, emphasizing its significance in achieving the D33 Agenda objectives. This initiative is poised to deepen economic collaboration and solidify Dubai’s status as a premier destination for both leisure and business travelers from India.
Furthermore, this historic milestone is anticipated to not only enhance the tourism experience for Indian travelers but also foster increased economic cooperation between the two nations.
