The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has downgraded the ‘orange’ alert to a ‘yellow‘ alert for Mumbai on Monday, providing relief to portions of Maharashtra that experienced heavy rainfall over the weekend. It also issued an “orange alert” for isolated locations in the Thane, Palghar, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Raigad districts, where moderate showers are expected.

In the meantime, the heavy rains in Gujarat caused the water levels in the Sinhan and Ghee dams in Dwarka to rise, while the flood waters receded in several districts in the state’s southern and Saurashtra regions, including Junagadh. Officials are currently working to restore normalcy to the affected areas, and approximately 3,000 people have been relocated to safer locations in the district.
On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘orange’ alert for Gujarat, indicating that “heavy to very heavy rainfall” is expected on July 24. In the next twenty-four hours, it was also predicted that Dwarka, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Valsad would experience significant rainfall.
The latest information on the rainfall in Gujarat and Maharashtra is as follows:
1.Heavy rains caused severe water-logging in Bhiwandi, which left vehicles partially immersed in water.
2.Officials in the state of Maharashtra said on Sunday that at least 19 people had died in rain-related accidents over the previous 10 days, and that torrential rains had damaged almost 4,500 homes in the Vidarbha region.
3.The Mumbai-Pune Motorway was closed towards Mumbai on Sunday after a landslip happened near Adoshi village in the Raigad district, according to a police officer quoted by PTI. At about 10:30 p.m., a landslip occurred without causing any injuries.
4.On Sunday, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued three individuals, including a pregnant woman, who had been trapped in the flooded village of Mocha in the Indian state of Gujarat.
5.Water levels at Dwarka’s Sinhan and Ghee dams rose after heavy rains flooded regions of Gujarat. Constant precipitation during the past four days caused the Sinhan and Ghee dams to overflow.
6.Six districts in Gujarat saw rainfall of 50-117 millimetres between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), as reported by PTI. These districts are Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Botad, Surat, and Bharuch.
7. Gujarat’s chief minister Bhupendra Patel spoke with Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday to discuss the flooding that has affected areas of the state as a result of recent rain.
