Hindu side has filled a fresh plea with the Varanasi district court seeking to stop the entry of people on the terrace of “Vyas Tehkhana” located in the southern portion of the Gyanvapi complex.

The counsel of Hindu side Madan Mohan Yadav filled the petition seeking the prohibition of devotees who climb the terrace to offer namaz.
According to media reports, Madan Mohan has taken this step reasoning that the terrace of the southern cellar is too weak and old to handle weight of people. Considering the falling of the roof owing to the weakness, the counsel has filled the plea.

The counsel further gave the information that Anil Kumar, judge of the Varanasi district court has fixed on Wednesday fixed March 19 for hearing the plea.
The judge will also hear the plea regarding the the repairment of the cellar’s pillar
This request was made following a decision by the Allahabad High Court. The court allowed Hindu prayers to continue in the “Vyas Tehkhana” of the Gyanvapi mosque. The mosque committee’s plea against the district court’s order was rejected.
Yadav expressed concerns, saying that Muslims walking and praying on the cellar’s terrace could harm the old structure, which needs repairs. On January 31, the district court decided that a Hindu priest could conduct prayers in the southern cellar of the mosque. Currently, a priest appointed by the Kashi Vishwanath temple trust is performing the prayers. The person filing the plea claims that his grandfather used to offer prayers in the cellar until December 1993.
