In 2023, Singapore will have the most powerful passport in the world. The passport of the Lion City beat the passport of Japan, which had been the strongest for more than five years. The latest Henley Passport Index for the third quarter showed a big change. Germany, Italy, and Spain came in second, and Japan tied for third with six other countries.

After looking at all the countries in the world, Henley makes a list of all the passports based on how many countries their users can visit without a visa. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) helps with this list, which is updated every three months.
According to the news release, Singapore passport users can go to 192 out of 227 countries in the world without a visa. In the last ten years, the country has moved up more than five places.
Malaysia made it to the 11th position, enabling its citizens visa-free travel to 180 countries, just missing the top ten. Hong Kong and Andorra tied for the seventeenth position with visa-free access to 170 countries. Thailand is ranked 64th in terms of visa-free travel options, with 79 countries. India ranked 80th on the list, granting visa-free or visa-upon-arrival access to 57 countries.
Afghanistan’s passport is the weakest in the world, granting visa-free entry to only 27 countries.

- The countries of Estonia and Iceland – visa-free travel to 182 nations
