Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his Sunday morning with a visit to Gujarat’s renowned Dwarkadhish Temple, situated at the confluence of the Gomti River and the Arabian Sea. The majestic temple holds great significance for Vaishnavites, especially Lord Krishna devotees, and is part of the Char Dham pilgrimage.
Prime Minister Modi also took an extraordinary step by submerging himself in the deep sea to offer prayers at the underwater site of the ancient city of Dwarka. This unique experience allowed him to establish a profound connection with India’s spiritual and historical heritage.
Dwarka holds significant historical importance, closely associated with Bhagwan Shri Krishna, representing an era of grandeur and prosperity. For PM Modi, this underwater expedition wasn’t just a journey beneath the waves; it served as a passage through time, reviving the city’s illustrious past and its association with one of Hinduism’s revered deities.
In this submerged setting, PM Modi paid homage to Dwarka, a city that continues to fascinate with its rich cultural and spiritual legacy. As a symbolic tribute, he offered peacock feathers, emphasizing the enduring charm of this ancient city and its historical significance.
An Offering to the Divine: Gifted Lord Krishna Idol
After offering prayers to Lord Krishna, also known as Dwarkadhish or the King of Dwarka, PM Modi received a divine gift. The temple priests presented him with an idol of Lord Krishna, further enriching the spiritual connection.
Inauguration of Sudarshan Setu: A Bridge to Progress
Prior to the temple visit, PM Modi inaugurated Sudarshan Setu, the country’s longest cable-stayed bridge, spanning approximately 2.32 km. Connecting the Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka, the bridge stands as a symbol of development and progress.
Formerly known as the ‘Signature Bridge,’ the structure has been renamed ‘Sudarshan Setu.’ Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 979 crore, the bridge boasts a four-lane road, 27.20 meters in width, with 2.50-meter wide footpaths on either side.
