The incident began Friday evening when 34 Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police began searching in the Halan forest area of Kulgam district’s upper reaches.
The contact was established after the terrorists opened fire at the joint search party of the Police and RR.
Previously, the three troops were badly injured and transferred to the 92 Base Hospital here, where they died from their injuries.

Earlier in the day, police said that the encounter had begun.
“The encounter has begun in the high reaches of the Halan forest area of the Kulgam district.” The Army and Kulgam Police are on the scene. “Further information will be provided,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted shortly after the encounter broke out in the area.
According to another tweet, three soldiers were hurt and were transported for treatment.
The encounter location is difficult owing to the rugged terrain.
“It’s in dense forests and dark there,” said Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police in Kashmir.
He stated that the perimeter had been strengthened and searches had been stepped up.
The Kulgam encounter erupted following the rescue of a missing soldier by police on Thursday from an orchard in the Chawalgam region of the Kulgam district.
After six days of intensive collaborative searches, the soldier was found by police and the army.
