Renowned Bhojpuri film star Ravi Kishan extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) once again placed its trust in him, nominating him from Gorakhpur for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. This marks the third consecutive time Ravi Kishan will be contesting from the Gorakhpur seat, which he has held since the 2019 elections.

The BJP unveiled its initial list of 195 candidates on Saturday, including PM Modi from Varanasi once again.

Expressing his gratitude, Ravi Kishan stated, “For once again providing me the opportunity to serve the people of Gorakhpur and for reposing faith in me, I would like to express my gratitude to the respected Prime Minister Narendra ji and the National President of BJP, Honourable Mr. JP Nadda ji, the Chanakya of Indian politics, Honourable Mr. Amit Shah ji and Uttar Pradesh. I express my immense gratitude to the central leadership including the Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Honourable Shri Yogi Adityanath Jiopening up about his renewed opportunity.

The Bhojpuri actor also said that Gorakhpur is the Hottest seat after Kashi while talking to media fraternity. Ravi Kishan, a well-known Bhojpuri actor, will once again vie for the Gorakhpur seat, a stronghold of Yogi Adityanath, the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath held the seat until 2017.

In the 2019 elections, Ravi Kishan emerged victorious against SP candidate Rambhual Nishad with a substantial lead of more than 3 lakh votes.

The BJP’s release of its first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls followed a marathon meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The list includes 34 Union Ministers, featuring heavyweights such as Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, contesting from their current Gandhinagar and Lucknow seats, respectively.

Among the 195 candidates, the BJP incorporated 28 women, 47 youth, 27 Scheduled Castes, 18 Scheduled Tribes, and 57 OBCs. The party announced candidates across various states, with Uttar Pradesh having 51, Madhya Pradesh 24, Gujarat 15, Rajasthan 15, West Bengal 20, Kerala 12, Assam 11, Chhattisgarh 11, Jharkhand 11, Telangana 9, Delhi 5, Jammu and Kashmir 2, Arunachal Pradesh 2, and one each for Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Daman and Diu.

Out of the 195 candidates, 34 are Ministers from the Centre and States, and two are former Chief Ministers.
