Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in which names of Sadhvi Pragya and certain other politicians are not included. Lets know who all are exempted and why?
BJP announced the names of 195 politicians who will fight for seats in Lok Sabha Elections. This list includes names of veterans such as Home Minister Amit Shah, names of previous CMs such as Shivraj Singh Chauhan, names of film actors such as Hema Malini and names of certain newcomers such as Madhavi Latha. On the other side, BJP’s first list was missing the names of certain political figures such as Sadhvi Pragya and Ramesh Bidhuri.
Sadhvi Pragya lost her candidature
Sadhvi Pragya has been know to give controversial remarks causing harm to the image of BJP which is suspected to be the reason for her missing from BJP’s first list of Lok Sabha Candidates. One of the most infamous remark made by Sadhvi Pragya Thakur was against the Mahatma Gandhi in which she called Nathuram Godse(Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin) a patriot. PM Narendra Modi himself expressed his disappointment in her by saying that he would not be able to forgive her.
Sadhvi Pragya Thakur is the currently serving as an MP from Bhopal since 2019 when she won against the Congress veteran Digvijay Singh. This time BJP has entrusted Alok Sharma for winning the seat.
Ramesh Bidhuri’s controversies
Ramesh Bidhuri recently made derogatory remarks targeting MP Danish Ali in the Parliament. Bidhuri made derogatory remarks against the Muslim community while arguing with Danish Ali. The video of him sledging Danish Ali was quickly circulated on Social media and brought negative publicity to BJP. BJP president JP Nadda also issued him show cause notice and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh express deep regrets against his remarks. Danish Ali is a member of Parliament hailing from Bahujan Samaj Party from Amroha.
Parvesh Verma
Parvesh Verma in 2023, made hate speech targeting a particular community calling for an economic boycott of the community. Parvesh Verma made these remarks while addressing a gathering title ‘Virat Hindu Sabha’ organised by VHP in East Delhi as he asked for complete boycott of a particular community without naming it. Kamaljeet Sahrawat is given the chance of fighting for Lok Sabha from west Delhi replacing Parvesh Verma who was condemned by party last year for controversies.

Jayant Sinha
BJP’s Hazaribag MLA Manish Jaiswal has taken over the Hazaribag Lok Sabha seat, replacing sitting MP Jayant Sinha. Jaiswal secured victory in the Hazaribag assembly constituency in 2019 by defeating Congress’ Dr. Ramchandra Prasad. Earlier in the day, Sinha, the son of former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha, announced that he had requested party president JP Nadda to relieve him from direct electoral duties.

In 2019, Jayant Sinha admitted that he, along with some other BJP leaders, provided financial assistance to cover the legal fees of individuals accused of lynching a meat trader in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh in 2017. This admission came a year after he stirred controversy by felicitating and posing with the six accused after their release on bail, taking them directly to the minister’s residence in Hazaribagh.
