Lok Sabha Election: “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again shown confidence in actors, fielding stars from Bhojpuri, Bollywood, South, and Bengali cinema in its first list of candidates. The list includes many sitting MPs, with tickets being given to seven actors.

Hema Malini, representing Mathura

Bollywood actress Hema Malini, the wife of actor Dharmendra, has consistently won the Lok Sabha elections from the Mathura seat since 2014. This marks her third consecutive candidacy. Hema Malini entered politics in 1999, initially contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Gurdaspur seat.

Locket Chatterjee, contesting from Hooghly

The BJP has chosen Bengali film actress Locket Chatterjee for the Hooghly Lok Sabha seat. She is the incumbent Lok Sabha member from this constituency and has previously served as the president of BJP’s Mahila Morcha in West Bengal. Currently, she is actively opposing the Mamata Banerjee government on the Sandeshkhali issue.

Ravi Kishan, candidate from Gorakhpur

Renowned Bhojpuri cinema veteran Ravi Kishan has been nominated as the BJP candidate for the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha election. Ravi Kishan won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from this seat and has been fielded again by the BJP.

Manoj Tiwari, representing North-East Delhi

Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari, the sitting MP from North-East Delhi, has been declared as the BJP candidate for the upcoming elections. Having won the Lok Sabha elections from this seat in both 2014 and 2019, Tiwari is seeking re-election for the third time.

Dinesh Lal Yadav from Azamgarh

Bhojpuri cinema star Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ has been announced as the BJP candidate from the Azamgarh seat. Dinesh Lal Yadav contested the elections from this seat in 2019, facing defeat against SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. However, he secured victory in the 2022 by-election against Akhilesh Yadav’s brother, becoming the MP.

Pawan Singh, first-time candidate from Asansol

The BJP has given a ticket to Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh from Asansol. Singh, who joined the BJP in 2014, has eagerly awaited a ticket in the last two Lok Sabha elections. Known for his popular Bhojpuri songs, Pawan Singh’s candidacy adds an interesting dynamic to the Asansol constituency, located near the Bihar-West Bengal border.

Suresh Gopi, running again from Thrissur

The BJP has nominated Malayali actor Suresh Gopi as its candidate from the Thrissur seat in Kerala. Gopi had previously contested the 2019 elections from this constituency on a BJP ticket, finishing third after CPI and Congress candidates.”
