Mary Millben has reaffirmed her support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing ‘Manipur issue’, after having “thanked” him in July for publicly confronting the inhumane treatment of women in the troubled northeastern state. Millben has now stated, Modi is committed to fighting for their freedom, and India has faith in the leader.

The American singer, who caressed Modi’s feet during his state visit to India in June, wrote on the platform X (formerly Twitter): The truth: India has confidence in its leader. Justice will be served to the mothers, daughters, and women of #Manipur, India. And #PMModi will continue to battle for their freedom.”
In an apparent reference to the Congress, the American performer also mocked the Indian Opposition and made an apparent reference to the party. Affiliating with a party that disrespects cultural heritage, denies minors the right to sing the national anthem, and undermines one’s country abroad is not leadership. She stated that this is unprincipled behaviour.
Untrustworthy journalism will create false narratives. The opposition will chant without any substance. But the truth will always set people free,” Millen continued. Millben wrote, “My beloved India, let truth…ring” in reference to Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Let Freedom Ring” speech, who headed the American civil rights movement in the mid-1950s and was also a Nobel Peace Prize winner.
She voiced her support for Modi regarding the “no-confidence” motion initiated against his Indian government and stated, “You have my confidence. I will pray for you”.
The no-confidence motion against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was defeated in the Lok Sabha on Thursday after a three-day debate that concluded with a passionate address by the prime minister.
The motion was defeated in a voice vote convened by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and shortly thereafter, the opposition members of parliament, including Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi, left the chamber.
In response to the motion of no confidence in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “The people of the country have repeatedly shown confidence in our government; I want to thank them all.”
