PM Modi is set to kick off a two-day visit to Assam on March 8, beginning with a stay in the serene Kaziranga National Park. The evening will be dedicated to exploring the wildlife reserve, with the highlight being a tiger, elephant, and jeep safari planned for March 9.

Arunachal Visit and Sela Tunnel Inauguration

After his Kaziranga sojourn, PM Modi will head to Arunachal Pradesh, where the strategically vital Sela Tunnel is set to be inaugurated in Baisakhi, West Kameng district. This tunnel promises all-weather connectivity to Tawang, bolstering India’s defense capabilities along the China-India border.

Honoring Ahom Warrior with ‘Statue of Valor’

In Jorhat, the Prime Minister will unveil an 84 feet tall statue of the renowned Ahom warrior Lachit Borphukan at Hollonga Pathar. This imposing structure will be known as the ‘Statue of Valor,’ symbolizing the bravery and historical significance of the Ahom warrior.

Inaugurating Projects Worth Rs 18 Thousand Crores

Back in Assam, PM Modi will inaugurate projects worth approximately Rs 18 thousand crores. The initiatives cover crucial areas such as infrastructure, refining, and housing. A significant portion of the agenda includes the unveiling of the Rs 3,992 crore pipeline project from Barauni to Guwahati.

PMAY Milestone and Public Address

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister will participate in the housewarming ceremony for over 5.5 lakh houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). A public meeting is also on the schedule, where PM Modi is expected to address the gathered audience.

Detailed Itinerary

The Prime Minister’s itinerary, as outlined by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, includes arrival at Tezpur airport at 4 pm on March 8, followed by a direct journey to Kaziranga. The following day will commence with a 5.30 am visit to the park for a two-hour tiger safari.

Important Note for Kaziranga Visitors

Due to PM Modi’s visit, jeep and elephant safaris in Kaziranga from March 7 to March 9 will remain closed for the general public.
