In the aftermath of Team India’s heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final, PM Modi delivered words of encouragement to boost the morale of the ‘Men in Blue.’

In a video shared by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi is seen motivating the team, acknowledging their hard work throughout the tournament, and emphasizing that the entire country stands with them.

“Despite winning 10 consecutive games, a single loss is normal, it happens. Please smile, the entire country is watching you. I just thought that I should go and meet you people,” PM Modi conveyed to the team inside India’s dressing room.

He specifically praised Indian speedster Mohammed Shami, commending his performance at the ODI World Cup 2023. “Well done Shami. You played really well this time,” PM Modi remarked.

Modi urged the team to ‘stick together’ during this challenging time following their six-wicket loss to Australia in the finals. In conclusion, he extended a warm invitation for the squad to visit Delhi, emphasizing their hard work and exceptional performance.

“You guys have worked really hard and played exceptionally well. Just stick together and keep on motivating each other. Also, whenever you are free and are in Delhi, let’s meet again. You all are cordially invited from my side,” he concluded.

During his visit to the dressing room, PM Modi interacted with every Indian player, offering words of encouragement.

Regarding the match, India posted a total of 240 in 50 overs, with notable contributions from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul. Mitchell Starc (3/55) emerged as the pick of the bowlers for Australia. In the chase, Australia secured a six-wicket victory with impactful performances from Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne.

Looking ahead, the World Cup finalists will transition to a five-match T20I series, commencing on Thursday in Visakhapatnam.
