This initiative is part of the government’s ambitious ‘World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan’ in the cooperative sector.

Tech upgrade for 18,000 PACS

In a parallel development, Modi inaugurated a comprehensive project for the computerization of 18,000 PACS throughout the country. This technological upgrade is expected to streamline operations and ensure efficient management of agricultural resources.

Integration into food grain supply chain

The overarching goal of these initiatives is to seamlessly integrate PACS godowns into the national food grain supply chain. The collaborative efforts of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) will be instrumental in achieving this integration.

PM Modi emphasizes role of cooperative sector

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration event, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the pivotal role of the cooperative sector in bolstering the economy and fostering development in rural areas. He expressed enthusiasm about the launch of the world’s largest storage scheme for farmers, envisioning the construction of numerous warehouses and godowns nationwide.

“Today we have launched the world’s largest storage scheme for our farmers. Under this, thousands of warehouses and thousands of godowns will be constructed across the country,” the Prime Minister declared.

Reducing import dependence

In a call to action, Prime Minister Modi urged the cooperative sector to contribute towards reducing India’s dependency on imported agricultural products, including edible oils and fertilizers. The emphasis on self-sufficiency aligns with the broader goal of strengthening the agricultural sector and ensuring food security in the country.
