Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the significant milestone reached by the rooftop solar scheme ‘PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’ on Saturday, announcing that more than one crore households have already enrolled. Describing this achievement as “outstanding news,” the Prime Minister underscored the widespread participation from across the nation.

Rapid Registrations Across India

In a message broadcasted through ‘X,’ Prime Minister Modi underscored the notable reaction to the scheme, emphasizing the influx of registrations from diverse states. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh have each recorded more than 500,000 registrations, illustrating widespread acceptance of the initiative across the country.

Call for Further Registrations

Prime Minister Modi encouraged individuals who haven’t yet enrolled in the scheme to register without delay. Stressing the potential advantages, he highlighted that the initiative offers significant savings on electricity bills for households while also guaranteeing energy generation. He emphasized that the scheme is poised to promote Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) on a large scale, contributing significantly to a greener planet.

Union Cabinet’s Approval

The Prime Minister reminded the public that the Union Cabinet, under his leadership, approved the scheme last month. The initiative boasts a total outlay of Rs.75,021 crore dedicated to installing rooftop solar panels and offering free electricity up to 300 units every month for one crore households.

The PM-Surya Ghar scheme stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation. With its widespread adoption, it not only promises to alleviate the burden of electricity expenses but also paves the way for a cleaner and greener future for generations to come.
