Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate six new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospitals over the next six days, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of healthcare infrastructure across India. The List of AIIMS Hospitals to be Inaugurated
The six AIIMS hospitals scheduled for inauguration include AIIMS Vijaypur, AIIMS Rajkot, AIIMS Bathinda, AIIMS Rae Bareli, and AIIMS Kalyani. Each of these institutions represents a crucial addition to India’s healthcare ecosystem, catering to the medical needs of diverse populations.
Inauguration of AIIMS Vijaypur: Enhancing Healthcare in Jammu
Prime Minister Modi will kick off the inauguration spree by dedicating AIIMS Vijaypur in Jammu on February 20th. Established at a cost exceeding Rs. 1660 crore, AIIMS Vijaypur boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure spread over 227 acres.
With facilities such as 720 beds, a medical College, a Nursing College, an AYUSH Block, and advanced medical equipment, the hospital is primed to deliver specialized care across various disciplines, including Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, and Endocrinology. Leveraging digital health infrastructure, AIIMS Vijaypur aims to extend healthcare services to remote areas, ensuring comprehensive medical assistance to all.
Foundation Stones for New Medical Colleges and Health Facilities
In addition to inaugurating AIIMS hospitals, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stones for several new medical colleges and advanced healthcare facilities, including Critical Care Blocks and Integrated Public Health Labs under the PM-ABHIM initiative.
These initiatives align with the government’s overarching goal of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and promoting inclusive healthcare access through schemes like ‘Ayushman Bharat, and Viksit Bharat.’
Commitment to Public Healthcare: Budget Allocations and Future Plans
The Modi government’s commitment to public healthcare was evident in the recent Interim Budget, which allocated Rs.90,171 crore for FY24–25. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman underscored the government’s focus on setting up additional medical colleges and improving healthcare services nationwide.
Recognizing the growing demand for specialized healthcare, the government has embarked on an ambitious mission to establish more AIIMS institutions, with 15 already operational to date.
