BJP govt to hike reservations for Lingayats, reservation for minorities scraped…

Ahead of state’s election, Karnataka government on Friday announced that the reservation given to minorities including Muslims would now be added to the present quota for the dominant communities across the state.That means the 4% reservation given to the Muslims under OBC Section would now be divided amongst the 2 major communities across the state which are Lingayats and Vokkalingas.  2 new reservations under the C and 2D were created during the Belagavi Assembly Session last year.Now the state’s cabinet has decided to being the religious minority community under the EWS category. While explaining about the same CM said, “The four per cent (reservation for minorities) will be divided into two between 2C and 2D. The four per cent reservation for the Vokkaligas and others will be enhanced to six per cent and Veerashaiva Panchamasali and others (Lingayats), who are getting five per cent reservation will now get seven per cent.” Also read: ‘Why Would I Be Ashamed?’ : Malayal

“Film city in Karnataka should attract Hollywood Film makers “

After making several film industry-friendly announcements in the recent Budget of the state, Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said that the work on the much-anticipated film city will begin soon with international expertise and infrastructure.While speaking at an inaugural event of the 14th edition of Bengaluru International Film Festival he said: “We are inviting international experts to create a film city and studio of international quality.
