In her budget speech for the year 2023-24 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram purposed the setting up of the National Digital Library for Children and Adolescents. The library will avail the facility of quality books across geographies, languages, genres, and levels and device-agnostic accessibility.She said that states will be encouraged to set up physical libraries for them at panchayat and ward levels and also provide infrastructure facilities for accessing the resources from National Digital Library.Finance Minister in her speech mentioned,” to build the culture of reading and make up for the loss of learning during the pandemic, National Book Trust and Children’s Book Trust will be encouraged to provide and replenish non-curricular titles in regional languages and English to these physical libraries.”NGOs that are working in the education sector will also be part of this initiative. PVTG Scheme announced in Budget to benefit 3.5L Tribals
Finance Minister Of India Nirmala Sitaraman on 1st February, Wednesday, presented the budget for the year 2023-24. The budget included many schemes that are meant to benefit the weaker sections of society. One of the schemes that were launched to benefit the tribals is PVTG (Pradhan Mantri Primitive-Vulnerable Tribal Group).The program(PVTG) was launched for the socio-economic development of the primitive group by setting a budget of Rs. 15000 crores for the mission, over the next three years. The program is set to benefit around 3.5 Lakh tribals. The scheme will provide the benefits of habilitations with basic facilities such as safe housing, clean drinking water, and sanitation.
