Child marriage, a problem that sounds old in the modern world exist still today. Indian society has witnessed the problem of child marriage since ancient India and it is very unfortunate that the problem still exists. According to the National Family Health Survey for 2019-2020, 32 out of 100 girls in the state, presently at the age of 20-24, were under 18 when got married. And 12 among every 100 such child brides were either pregnant or already become mothers.To work on such numbers, Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has come to action. The CM informed, all those who are involved in the heinous act of child marriage will be punished. The state recently More than 4000 cases of child marriages were filed in the state recently.
