Celebrating Akshardham Day :Pramukh Swami Maharaj Nagar

Pramukh Swami Maharaj and two of his greatest creations, Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gandhinagar, Gujarat and New Delhi, represent the very best of Hindu culture and values. Akshardham, in Swaminarayan theology, is the heavenly abode of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. By building grand Akshardham mandirs as representations of Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s eternal abode, Pramukh Swami Maharaj fulfilled the wish of his guru, Yogiji Maharaj, and offered tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. He hoped that those visiting Akshardham would experience peace, gain inspiration from the life and teachings of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, and learn more about Hindu heritage and culture. To fulfil his guru’s wish of building a temple in Delhi, Pramukh Swami Maharaj persevered for 32 years to acquire land to build Swaminarayan Akshardham.
