Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy made a significant move on Monday, referring to PM Modi as “bada bhai (elder brother),” expressing the need for support from the Centre to propel the state’s development.

Departure from Previous Leadership

In a departure from the approach of former CM K Chandrashekar Rao, Revanth Reddy personally attended the meeting with PM Modi in Adilabad, where several projects were inaugurated. Reddy emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state and the central government for progress.

Unique Address in Hindi

Addressing the Prime Minister in Hindi, Revanth Reddy stated, “Hamare hisaab se Pradhan Mantri matlab bade bhai (According to us, Prime Minister means elder brother).”

He underscored that Chief Ministers can advance their states with the help of the Prime Minister.

Reddy’s Requests for Telangana Development

Reddy made specific requests for Telangana’s development, urging support for the Metro rail and drawing a parallel to Modi’s success in developing the Sabarmati river. He expressed aspirations to regenerate the Musi river for the state’s advancement.

PM Modi’s First Visit Post-Congress Rule

This marks Modi’s first visit to Telangana since the Congress assumed power in December. Despite the change in leadership, Reddy conveyed a cooperative stance, emphasizing a desire for collaboration rather than confrontation with the central government.

Various Projects

During his two-day tour, PM Modi inaugurated various projects, including NTPC’s 800 MW (Unit-2) of Telangana Super Thermal Power Project, electrification projects, and foundation stones for railway, highway, and power projects valued at over Rs 7,000 crore.

BJP’s Growing Strength

Modi noted the significant turnout in Telangana as a testament to the growing strength of the BJP in the state. He highlighted the recent launches of AIIMS, IITs, IIMs, and railway projects, asserting it as a part of “Viksit Bharat.”

Criticism of Previous Government

Taking a swipe at the previous Bharat Rashtra Samiti government, Modi accused them of corruption, labeling the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project as a mega scam. He criticized the lack of change in corruption and dynasty politics under the TRS to BRS transition.
