According to authorities, a 24-year-old Dalit man in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, died at a hospital a few weeks after he was allegedly beaten with iron rods by four people after rejecting their demand for a feast and alcohol to celebrate the birth of his son and citing financial hardship.

On July 11, claimed attack occurred against Sachin, a resident of Piparthara hamlet in the district’s Faridpur police station jurisdiction. He was seriously hurt and sent to a hospital in Bareilly, where he passed away on Tuesday, according to Superintendent of Police (Rural), Rajkumar Aggarwal.

A case was registered against four people on Tuesday under the applicable provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act based on a complaint made by Sachin’s mother. The four defendants are Vishal, Akku, Akash, and Kallu, all residents of the same hamlet.

According to the police officer, Vishal is being sought after after the arrest of three of the offenders.
According to the police officer who described the incident, on July 11, Vishal and his associates barged into Sachin’s home carrying iron rods and demanded that he host a feast to celebrate the birth of their son.

They begged Sachin to fetch them some alcohol after he declined, citing a financial emergency. When Sachin once more refused, they took him from his home, tied him up, and beat him with iron rods, according to the police officer.
