Trinamool Congress on Sunday released the list of all 42 candidates(Lok Sabha) putting an end to the hopes of Congress for alliance in the state of Bengal. TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee released the list of all 42 candidates who will be contesting for Lok Sabha elections in the upcoming General elections.
List of candidates
The nephew of West Bengal CM, Abhishek Banerjee released the list of 42 candidates during a show of strength in Kolkata. He himself will be contesting from the Diamond Harbour constituency. Some of the names in the list are : Cooch Behar Jagdish Chandra Basunia, Alipurduar – Prakash Chik Baraik (Rajya Sabha member), Jalpaiguri – Nirmal Chandra Rai (MLA), Darjeeling – Gopal Lama, Raiganj – Krishna Kalyani, Balurghat – Biplab Mitra (minister), Malda North – Prasun Banerjee (former IPS officer), Malda South – Shanawaz Ali Rehman, Jangipur – Khalilur Rehman.

Some unexpected names
Former cricketer Yusuf Pathan is being fielded by TMC to fight from Baharampur. For now, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chawdhury is a sitting MP from Baharampur.. This will one of the hot seats in Bengal as two big names will come against each other.
Mukut Mani Adhikari, a former BJP MLA will also be fighting from Ranaghat. He recently joined TMC leaving BJP.
Mahua Moitra, the expelled MP is also fielded by the party from Krishnanagar. Mahua was expelled for “cash-for-query- case.
Shattering hopes for Alliance
Congress has been expressing positivity over seat sharing with TMC. Previously Mamata Banerjee expressed her disagreement with Congress on Seat Sharing and deteriorating relations with Rahul Gandhi. Congress party has maintained their stand for seat sharing. With the announcement of all 42 candidates, it is clear that the seat sharing talks between Congress and TMC have failed for not reaching a middle ground for seat sharing.
Trinamool Congress started the campaign for Lok Sabha Elections on Sunday with a show of Strength. TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee said “Today, I will bring before you candidates for all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal.”
