Pankaj Udhas Death: Several renowned figures from the music industry, including Shankar Mahadevan and Ustad Zakir Hussain, gathered at the Mumbai residence of the late legendary singer Pankaj Udhas to pay their respects ahead of his funeral.

Reflecting on the iconic Ghazal maestro, Shankar Mahadevan expressed his shock and admiration, stating, “He had a positive approach towards everything in life. May God give his family abundant strength to bear this big loss. I am in a state of shock.”
Padma Shri Recipient’s Passing
Pankaj Udhas, a recipient of the Padma Shri, breathed his last on February 26 at the age of 72 after battling a prolonged illness. The Udhas family confirmed the news through a statement, expressing profound sadness over the loss.
Musical Legacy
Born on May 17, 1951, in Jetpur, Gujarat, Pankaj Udhas left an indelible mark not only in the world of ghazals but also through his notable contributions to film music. His solo ghazal album ‘Aahat’ in 1980 garnered widespread acclaim, followed by successful releases like Mukarar (1981), Tarrannum (1982), Mehfil (1983), and more.

Pankaj Udhas’s repertoire includes timeless renditions such as ‘Chitthi Aayi Hai’, ‘Chandani Raat Mein’, ‘Na Kajre Ki Dhaar’, ‘Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein’, ‘Ek Taraf Uska Ghar’, and ‘Thodi Thodi Piya Karo’.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, in a heartfelt video message, reminisced about the beautiful memories associated with Pankaj Udhas. Kher shared, “Ab chitti nahi aayegi’ (The letters won’t come anymore),” referencing the popular song ‘Chitti Aayi Hai’, and described Udhas as a tender, sweet, and good-hearted person.
